Impact Directory

LifeCity is building you a directory of resources to find the organizations in your community that are truly making an impact. This Directory will be connected to the Impact Economy Un/report that provides knowledge, partnerships, and connections to individuals and organizations sharing common interests.

The Un/report is a partnership with Tulane University, thanks to funding from the Center of Public Service at Tulane University. Tulane students will engage in community-based research with LifeCity, a New Orleans-based social venture aiming to shift the local economy towards more sustainable models of production and consumption. Tulane undergraduates will engage with businesses, consumers, and civil society to simultaneously research and promote the “impact economy”: one that generates true wealth AND provides social and environmental benefits for all.

Tasks include a desk review (looking for “indicators and inspirations”), community events (“NOLAFora”), and the production and dissemination of the Impact Economy Un/Report: social and environmental innovation in New Orleans.

This “Un/report” term reflects the un-doing of the environmental impact of production and consumption, while generating social value and real well-being. The Un/Report will not languish on a shelf; it will evolve and adapt —with the assistance of Tulane students — as an interactive and educational tool for consumers, businesses, investors, civil society, and elected officials.

The process of co-creating the Un/Report can demonstrate how academic research – the tools, findings, and different critical perspectives – can be leveraged with community engagement and business strategies for collective impact.
